The call to action started as a simple Facebook post from Zach’s cousin, asking for the Atlanta car scene to help him set up an experience during what is expected to be Zach’s last trip to Atlanta. Zach asked to see some nice cars and to experience something new while he was here, and the Atlanta car scene showed up. Zach has been battling osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer, and at the age of 15 has made the brave decision to stop his treatments in hopes to instead enjoy being a kid and seeing as much of life as he can. Although we didn’t get to meet Zach at the event, we did get to stand in awe of how many people saw the call and showed up. Multiple car clubs and event organizers were contacted, saw the post or began the work to see what could be done to show Zach a great time, and ultimately, G-man Hernandez took the charge and put together the details for everyone to meet at the The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta in Woodstock. The Facebook event was shared far and wide, and the most consistent count posted seems to be at least 2300 cars were brought out for Zach to be able to see and enjoy, though some counts are significantly higher. While we love the cars, the builds, and the work and dedication of being a car person, ultimately, its about the community, and I have never been more proud to be part of this community.
