By now I’m sure you guys are tired of me telling you all about Atlanta Breakfast Rally, but too bad so sad, we’re going to do it again! If you’re new, or haven’t read any of the previous posts about ABR here’s a quick run down. Sprouted from the idea that we should actually enjoy driving our cars instead of just standing around in various parking lots talking about them, ABR founder Josh Proctor decided he wanted to enjoy the spirit of the drive and share that enjoyment with his friends. While Atlanta Breakfast Rally is a private group it is not exclusive to one make or model, nor is the group so rigidly beholden to an idea of what those drives should be, or that only specific roads will be chosen- ABR sees a bit of everything from tight technical twists to winding and flowing farm roads down to a dirt and gravel off road adventure.

Each month everyone is invited to participate in an organized drive with a carefully planned route already set into place which has been tested and is ready to go; the map is available to anyone who is involved, or a simple follow the leader can be chosen instead for those not looking to add another app to their arsenal. For July the group started at Ray’s donuts in Canton on a dense, humid summer morning for some hangs and snacks before departing through some of those previously mentioned farm roads and tighter twists. We stopped off at the overlook for a leg stretch and to take in the sweeping views of the foothills we so luckily live within, greeted by lingering fog creeping up the hillside and across the road, but peeps of sun dancing across the hills below. From there we wound our way around creating a semi-loop landing us in downtown Ball Ground for lunch at Dominic’s Wood Fired, wrapping up just before the summer storm let loose, quickly sending us on our ways home. While I could give you a turn by turn, that’s not in the spirit of what I do here, nor in the spirit of ABR.

If you’re interested in getting out with this group to enjoy driving your car, the Facebook group is a great place to start. The August event RSVP window has closed as it is a special occasion for the anniversary of ABR, but September will be announced soon! Atlanta Breakfast Rally
