ABR Overlooks and Pastries

Another Atlanta Breakfast Rally event covered so soon? I admit, my turn around on the September event was obliterated by my focus on ARA and Luftgekuhlt editing, so I wanted to do better for the October event. This one was off road, split between two different off-road portions with a short jaunt of on-pavement between the two, and I drove after the first half so I didn’t get as many in-car photos but I did absolutely make time to get more out of car shots for this one.

We enjoyed a short slightly technical section which the more prepared vehicles were able to tackle while the rest of us enjoyed watching the line selection from the drivers as well as the spotters. Some sage advice given to one driver: “Just put your foot in it and don’t lift.”

We bypassed a second crawling section, but did stop to let me shuffle my way to the front so I could snap photos of everyone at the water crossing, which was less dramatic this go around due to how exceptionally dry it has been this year. Still everyone enjoys a good splash in a puddle, right?

From here we worked our way to the second off-road portion which had quite a few water features, mainly stinky puddles, for us all to create some mud in, as well as a downed tree that, if you’re lifted a good bit, could be problematic but for most of us it was just choosing the correct line. This portion is well worth it, as there’s a stunning overlook to take in the rolling foothills that make up the Chattanooga area beneath Signal Mountain. This overlook also makes for some fun photo opportunities if you’re willing to park your rig near the edge. We lingered here for a bit in the warm early fall sun and spent time chatting while folks took their turn on the edge for the photos.

As always, I’m exceptionally grateful to tag along for these drives and to cover everything Atlanta Breakfast Rally puts together, and I love getting to meet so many new people as well as continue to build the relationships this past year has really allowed me to develop, largely due to this group. If you’re interested in joining in on any of the ABR fun, feel free to join the Facebook group, or reach out if you’re not on Facebook and I can get you in touch!
