Atlanta Breakfast Rally returned to the streets for February, leading a drive past some sleepy farm lands and winding through quiet back roads. The drive began with a meet up at a QT to ensure everyone had access to the app and map for the drive, fill up on gas, grab a quick snack and have some chit-chat time before the drive started. This route afforded drivers the opportunity to enjoy sweeping views of the foot hills in Chatsworth while winding along backroads before a stop off in Ellijay for coffee, which was happily procured from Mountain Town Coffee located in Hemlock Bazaar- a quirky book and records store that also dabbles in art and oddities. From downtown Ellijay a short drive was enjoyed up to the well beloved stretch of curvy mountain pavement between the city of Chatsworth and Fort Mountain where everyone was able to enjoy views from the overlook or take a few more drives along the curviest parts of the road. Despite a chilly morning start the sun was warm atop the mountain at the overlook, and we were not the only group out enjoying the roads. I was excited to see a photographer set up like KillBoy does for Tail of the Dragon, and made sure to snap photos of that group as we passed.
The group that shows up for these drives is usually diverse and rotates depending on availability and weather, as the group is open to all makes and models. If you want to enjoy a group drive along some of the most fun or scenic roads- and let’s be real, these are usually found in similar places- we recommend checking out ABR. You can find the group as well as pages on Facebook and Instagram.
